Driver Assessment Programme

What is the Driver Assessment Programme ?

Summary:

The assessment is to determine if a person is fit to drive safely w.r.t. successfully obtaining a drivers license. The idea of a drivers license is to determine if a person can control a vehicle safely in order to not be a hazard to oneself or to other road users.

Do I need to be assessed?

In theory, every driver should be assessed to be deemed fit for driving. Therefore, every driver that now need to drive an adapted vehicle, will have to 'update' their drivers license by assessment from a 'Vehicle Test Center' official.

Our driver assessment program focus on persons with severe disabilities, injury and/or condition.

Assessment results will vary depending on the customer's budget. Before you freak out, let me explain. Sometimes, a driver can get by with using mechanical devices to drive at a lower cost. Some drivers will only be able to drive utilizing expensive and complex electronic systems. This is why the driver assessments is necessary prior to converting your vehicle.

Many are confident about their abilities and/or restrictions, but need to be eventually tested towards satisfactory driving skills. Unfortunately there are some cases where the 'will to drive' precedes (overpower) the ability to drive and a driver assessment is imperative. This does not mean that one cannot operate vehicle driving controls, but merely the fact that you can do so safely in your own special way.

Assessment is necessary if you suffer from any of the following injuries, disabilities or conditions:

MS

etc

Sometimes it is nescessary to submit driver assessement reports to RAF, insurance companies, trusts, or other 3rd party claims. Such reports can also help determine the conversion systems setup required in order to compile quotation accordingly.

Driver assessment & road test:

Driving probability tests...

Off-road assessments may include tests like: physical-, perceptual- or cognitive functions, visual acuity, visual fields, orientation, memory and attention. This testing is helpful when making decisions about a client’s fitness to drive.

During an on-road assessment the clients’ actual driving behaviour can be assessed, i.e., the driving behaviour within a driving context. The main reason to conduct an on-road assessment is to determine whether or not any cognitive impairment detected by cognitive testing may be compensated for by the satisfactory driving skills of the drivers.
